Urban Pond | Outdoor Nevada Presents Tales from the Trails
SEASON 1: EPISODE 3 | 10/7/2023

Less than an hour from Las Vegas is Boulder City. This historic community is an amazing place to take a day trip. There is no shortage of activities - from walking tours, unique shops, restaurants, mountain biking, hiking, fishing and of course, the Hoover Dam.

Boulder City is also home to several parks, including Veterans’ Memorial Park, which is home to an urban pond. An urban pond is a small body of water, smaller than a lake, surrounded by an urban environment. Most people see them as pretty accents and features to a park, and they are. They’re also a place for activities. Fishing being one of them.

But, before you grab a rod and reel, Abbey Czarneki, the angler education coordinator for the Nevada Department of Wildlife, reminds everyone to get a fishing license. The license fee pays for maintenance of the ponds and stocking of the fish.
