The Fourth of July is always an explosive occasion in Las Vegas — but this year, upon the 250th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Declaration of Independence, the celebrations are bigger, brighter, and more spectacular than they've been in a long time (at least since the nation's bicentennial in 1976, though maybe ever).
To mark the official birthday of the United States — and our country's semiquincentennial, a.k.a. America 250 — many of our treasured annual July 4th traditions are getting ramped up with an extra dose of patriotism and excitement.
But there are plenty of extra festivities — special for such a banner year — that are helping the Silver State don a little extra red, white, and blue this summer.
In 2026, Las Vegas will host its biggest fireworks spectacle ever, with weekly pyrotechnics blasting off from various rotating launch points on the Strip, north Strip, and Fremont Street on eight consecutive Saturdays through the end of July. The America250 Fireworks Celebrationwill reach "peak Vegas" on July 4, when a synchronized display will be launched from nine rooftops across The Strip — reportedly the largest stage in the country.
Southern Nevadans can also view a free fireworks and drone show courtesy of Station Casinos, whose 50th anniversary coincides with the nation's 250th birthday. The celebrations kick off on July 1 at Palace Station and continue on July 4 at the remainder of the Station Casino properties: Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa, Green Valley Ranch, Durango Casino & Resort, Sunset Station, Boulder Station, and Santa Fe Station.
There are, however, lots more ways to celebrate America 250 besides the standard parade and fireworks show.
Vegas PBS KIDS and The Library District will also present a series of America 250 Workshops for families with children age 4-6 ("Playtime Through the Past") and age 6-8 ("City Time Travelers") at various area library locations. You can follow the schedule and map on our Learning Neighborhood Van page.
Henderson Libraries will offer craft activities for children ages 6-11 — as well as a visit from the Daughters of the American Revolution — at its America 250-themed STEAM Team events on July 1 at Paseo Verde Library and July 2 at James I. Gibson Library.
Finally, on July 1 Clark County Parks & Recreation’s Clark County Museum and Public Arts Office will unveil utility signal boxes that have recently been transformed into vibrant works of art in honor of America’s 250th anniversary. Each unique box design part of the America 250 Signal Box Project will help connect local, state, and national history through photos and community-submitted stories that celebrate the people and moments that make Clark County special.
