Jessica Russell, RTL Coordinator

A member of the Vegas PBS staff for over two decades, Jessica has helped expand the station’s childhood health and education initiatives. As RTL Coordinator, she oversees and implements all Ready To Learn outreach programs and activities, including the coordination of family workshops focusing on literacy, health and mathematics in the community.  

Jessica earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and two master’s degrees in Technology and Literacy Education from UNLV.  She is the recipient of two Pacific Southwest Emmy Awards for her work as producer and writer on two original Vegas PBS children's programs, The Vegas PBS KIDS Writers Contest Presented by Janice Haupt Allen and Vegas PBS STEAM Camp.

Mayte Heredia, RTL Bilingual Project Facilitator

Mayte has a passion for teaching and working with families in schools and throughout the community. As RTL (Ready to Learn) Bilingual Project Facilitator, Mayte assists in developing and delivering family engagement workshops in both English and Spanish that help parents build literacy, math, technology and leadership skills with their children. In addition to training parents, she also trains teachers, project facilitators and community leaders. 

Prior to joining Vegas PBS, Mayte was a kindergarten teacher, and for more than ten years served as Title I Project Facilitator at the Title I Family Engagement Centers where she helped to connect families to educational and community resources. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from UNLV and a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lesley University. In her spare time, Mayte loves to cook, volunteer in her community and spend time with her husband and their five beautiful daughters.
