Vegas PBS Welcomes Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada to Its Educational Technology Campus

Vegas PBS recently welcomed Junior and Cadette members of Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada to tour its Educational Technology campus at 3050 E. Flamingo Road in Las Vegas. 

Their visit was part of the Girl Scouts’ year-long Media Girls program, which gives its participants hands-on exposure in various aspects of the media industry and journalism — from television production, videography, and photography to digital storytelling and other media-related careers.

The Girl Scouts had the rare and unique opportunity to see several areas of television production firsthand, including the Nevada Week production stage and set. 

The scouts' tour of the Vegas PBS studio was led by Chief of Broadcast Operations and Emergency Response and Interim General Manager John Turner, who supervises all of the station's informational technology, engineering, and emergency response functions. 

Also accompanying the tour was Education Services & Business Development Director Dr. Niki Brunetti. In her role at Vegas PBS, Dr. Brunetti leads the station’s educational outreach beyond the broadcast. That includes such unique services as the Special Needs Library, Family Engagement Workshops, teacher training and online classroom materials, and more.

Vegas PBS was honored to help this special group of middle schoolers learn more about the important work that goes into creating and delivering content to help keep the public informed.
