LAS VEGAS, NV – Vegas PBS will be holding its annual Workforce Education Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, July 19 at noon in the Gold Coast Hotel & Casino. The ceremony, sponsored by ed2go/Cengage Group, will honor and celebrate this year’s 164 graduates of the Vegas PBS Workforce Education program.
This year, Vegas PBS is celebrating 15 years of offering high-quality and accessible Workforce Education to Southern Nevadans. The Workforce Education initiative was launched in 2010 in response to the Great Recession. With over 400 career programs and 1,000 short-term and compliance courses, Vegas PBS has helped over 945,000 individuals pursue high-earning/high-demand careers. Courses are readily accessible and self-paced, ideal for those with busy schedules. Vegas PBS has partnered with Southern Nevada Health District, MGM Resorts, Goodwill Industries of Southern Nevada and many other organizations to help fill important roles in our region’s job sector.
Wishing to recognize the hard work of those who’ve completed career training and compliance courses, Vegas PBS held its inaugural Workforce Education Graduation in 2023. This year, 164 individuals will be honored at the ceremony at the Gold Coast Hotel & Casino on Saturday, July 19 from noon to 1:30 p.m.
The Workforce Education Graduation Ceremony, sponsored by ed2go/Cengage Group, will feature the conferring of certificates to graduates and remarks from Vegas PBS President and General Manager Mare Mazur; Vegas PBS Workforce Training and Economic Development Director Debra Solt; and graduates from the program.
“Our service to the public goes beyond the broadcast,” says Vegas PBS Workforce Training and Economic Development Director Debra Solt. “These course offerings not only serve job seekers, but also employers, small business owners and schools. We even offer what we call ‘Lifelong Learning’ courses, which are for those looking to pick up a new hobby or deepen their personal skills.”
“This graduation ceremony is such a special occasion for us,” Solt continues. “Our team gets to watch as students from all walks of life build confidence and find a career they’re passionate about. Now, we get to celebrate their accomplishment as they go on to help build a stronger world.”
