Standing Strong for Public Media

Email share

Thursday night, an executive order was signed by the President that seeks to defund PBS and NPR by blocking the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) from distributing federal funds. While legal experts are still evaluating the enforceability of this action, it marks the latest in a series of troubling developments aimed at weakening public media.

At Vegas PBS, we’ve weathered storms before. But this moment is more immediate, and more consequential. Still, our commitment to you, our community, remains unwavering. For more than 55 years, Vegas PBS has provided trusted local programming, early childhood education, emergency communications, and workforce training across Southern Nevada. That mission does not change. In the days and weeks ahead, we will better understand the full implications of this executive order. But one thing is certain: we will continue to adapt. We will continue to innovate. And we will continue to serve the Las Vegas community.

Now more than ever, public media needs your voice. If you believe in what Vegas PBS stands for, we invite you to take action. Visit vegaspbs.org/protect to contact your representatives, sign a petition, and share your story about why public media matters.

Thank you for standing with us.

With gratitude,
Mare Mazur
