Vegas PBS Launches New Nevada Public Affairs Show

Nevada Week premieres Tuesday, July 10 on Vegas PBS Channel 10

LAS VEGAS – Vegas PBS announced today the addition of Nevada Week, a state-focused politics and public affairs program, to their television lineup. The show airs Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. beginning July 10 on Vegas PBS Channel 10. Nevada Week is hosted by Casey Smith, an award-winning journalist and experienced broadcast anchor.

Nevada Week is a weekly half-hour public affairs and public interest television show that explores and examines current and emerging local issues and stories that are compelling and critical to Nevada. It blends in-studio expert panel discussions with in-field story segments. The show goes beyond breaking news, headlines, tweets and hot topics to cover a wide range of important issues such as health, water, transportation, arts and culture, education, economic development, family income, social services, economics, and of course politics.

The show is hosted by Casey Smith, an award-winning journalist who has worked in Nevada broadcast news for nearly two decades. He has covered politics, economics, sports, agriculture and entertainment. He is an adept interviewer, experienced anchor and noted journalist who has provided years of trusted news to Nevadans. Smith brings informed, local knowledge to Nevada Week as a long-time resident and journalist who has covered the state for KLAS, KTNV and The NOW Report.

Nevada Week builds on the success of the long-running Vegas PBS show, Nevada Week in Review, with a modern, forward-looking approach. Nevada Week will provide in-depth exploration of the factors and hard facts that drive Nevada. Rather than simply informing Nevadans of critical issues, the show will inspire and empower each viewer to make informed decisions and take personal action to impact the future of the state.

“I am extremely excited to be part of Nevada Week,” says Smith. “I am committed to continuing the excellent, unbiased journalistic ethics Nevada has come to expect from Vegas PBS.”

“Nevada Week will inform, inspire and empower our residents and our public/private leaders to make sound decisions and increase civic engagement for the betterment of our community,” says Vegas PBS General Manager Tom Axtell. “Vegas PBS fosters empathetic engagement with diverse topics and ideas, never shying away from what’s tough or unfamiliar. Nevada Week is driven by this ethos, making the program a unique, balanced and valuable voice in our civil conversation.”
