One-on-one interview with Las Vegas sports host and “Mondays Dark” creator Mark Shunock.
If you’ve gone to a Vegas Golden Knights game in Las Vegas, you’ve almost certainly heard his booming voice telling you it’s “KNIGHT TIME!”
Mark Shunock is the in-area host for the Golden Knights, the Raiders and Top Rank Boxing, but those are only a few of the things on his resume. When he was younger, growing up in Sault Ste. Marie in Ontario, Canada, he played hockey and was a goalie for the Canadian Hockey League.
While he loved hockey, he also had a passion for music and performing. After deciding to leave hockey behind, a crucial trip to New York City opened his eyes to performing and Broadway in particular. He auditioned for the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and got in. After spending three years there, he joined the New York theater scene playing Timon in “The Lion King” and Lonny in “Rock of Ages.”
While in Las Vegas, Shunock helped in the effort to bring the Knights to town by getting anyone he could to buy season tickets. From there, he was tapped to be the in-area voice for the Knights.
He’s parlayed that success into “Mondays Dark,” a charity show that goes on stage twice a month and aims to raise as much as possible in just 90 minutes. It features some of the top entertainers from the Strip and Hollywood. top of page
