March 8-9: Open House at Nevada State Railroad Museum, Boulder City

Explore the Nevada State Railroad Museum, Boulder City at its Open House. 

Weekend events include: 

• updates on the museum’s expansion
• tours of the maintenance facility
• talks about on-going restoration projects
• tours of the private car “Ellsmere”
• model railroad displays
• rides on the 7.5″ live steam railroad (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
• operation exhibits on display tracks
• excursion train rides on the historic Boulder Branch Line (departing at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m)

On Saturday, March 8 at 1 p.m., Museum Director Dr. Christopher MacMahon will share an update on the first phase of the museum's expansion project, with construction of the new visitor center, welcome plaza, and train loading platforms. 

On Sunday, March 9 at 1 p.m., Restoration Specialist, Braden Brickman discusses what went into the museum's recent restorations of Union Pacific dining car 4813 and the Bureau of Reclamation switching locomotive.  

Q&A sessions will follow the presentations.
