Season Finale Tara Krysa Conductor & Artistic Advisor Henderson Symphony Orchestra

Event Details

The Henderson Symphony Orchestra's final concert of the current season will be its Celebration of America, under the direction of Music Director and Artistic Advisor Taras Krysa.

The program will feature three iconic American works that celebrate the energy, spirit, and diversity of American music:

  • John Adams’ thrilling Short Ride in a Fast Machine, one of the most popular contemporary American orchestral works. Full of energy and excitement, the piece reflects the American spirit of innovation, progress, technology, and movement.
  • Aaron Copland’s Four Dance Episodes from Rodeo. These well-known movements capture the spirit of the American West — its beauty, challenges, humor, and optimism. Copland’s music paints a vivid picture of the people and landscapes that helped shape America.
  • Leonard Bernstein’s famous Symphonic Dances from "West Side Story." Based on the story of two young lovers from rival groups in New York City, the work also reflects the life in urban America. Bernstein combines jazz, Latin rhythms, Broadway, and classical music into one of the most exciting American orchestral works ever written.

Together, Adams, Copland, and Bernstein showcase the brilliance and variety of the American symphonic tradition and the incredible sound of the modern orchestra.

This concert also celebrates the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States and serves as a preview of the Henderson Symphony Orchestra’s 40th anniversary season next year.
