June 14: Pioneer Heritage Day

The first non-native settlers in Las Vegas were a group of Mormon missionaries who built an adobe fort along Las Vegas Creek in 1855.
Pioneer Heritage Day recognizes the 170th anniversary of the arrival of the original Mormon missionaries to today's site of the Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort State Historic Park, sponsored by the volunteer organization Friends of the Fort and Daughters of Utah Pioneers. The park includes a remnant of the original adobe fort, interpretive displays, as well as historic artifacts.
If you're a descendant of a Fort Missionary, Friends of the Fort would like to hear from you!
