On Monday, September 28, the Library District and Vegas PBS welcomed families to our Sesame Street and the Great Elephant Adventure screening at the Clark County Library!

Audience members were among the first to see 20 minutes of Sesame Street and the Great Elephant Adventure— a fun-filled journey in Kenya where Elmo, Abby, and their friends meet a baby elephant they adopted online from the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

Upon arrival, attending families received Safari Boarding Passes and enjoyed pre-screening activities like an elephant headband creation station and photo opportunities.

This special advance screening and interactive program also featured storytime, safari photography, dancing, and a discussion.

After the screening, families shared what they learned from the program — including that baby elephants are called calves, drink warm milk, and use their trunks to drink!

Others reflected on the bigger lesson: “We are all connected.”

The event culminated in a “Safari Adoption Center,” where children received baby elephant balloons and goody bags featuring an Elmo puppet and a new nonfiction book about elephants.
