LAS VEGAS, NV – Vegas PBS recently held its fourth Workforce Education Graduation Luncheon on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Gold Coast Hotel & Casino. The ceremony recognized over 180 graduates of the Workforce Education program.
The 2026 Workforce Training and Economic Development Graduation Luncheon was emceed by Nevada Week host Amber Renee Dixon and Vegas PBS host Maria Silva. Mare Mazur delivered a message to the graduates, her last one as Vegas PBS President & General Manager. Anthony Gladney, MGM Resorts International Vice President of Community & Business Engagement, spoke at the commencement as well.
After a video presentation Debra Solt, Director of Workforce Education at Vegas PBS, delivered remarks to the graduates. Solt and her team regularly check-in with and mentor these students, so there was a palpable sense of familiarity and warmth throughout the event. Student empowerment was a major theme of the Graduation Luncheon, which was emphasized by the three Student Speakers: Semetress Simmons, Vernell Meredith and Ederick Dillard.
The Vegas PBS Workforce Education initiative was launched in 2010 in response to the Great Recession. From teacher professional development courses to certifications in construction and trades, Vegas PBS’ Workforce Education provides Southern Nevadans with the means to pursue high-earning, high-demand careers. With over 400 career programs and 2,000 short-term and compliance courses, the program helps community members find the path to fulfilling careers. Courses are readily accessible and self-paced, ideal for those with busy schedules.
