December 21: Winter Solstice at the Bird Viewing Preserve

The Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve celebrates the Winter Solstice — the longest night and the official start of winter! 

This family-friendly event invites children and adults alike to embrace the season with warmth, light, and creativity. The classroom will be open with refreshments and fun crafts, including:

  • making bird feeders
  • rolling beeswax honeycomb candles, and
  • decorating winter lanterns.


Learn about the significance of the solstice, and take a peaceful stroll around the ponds before or after the event.
