CAMPMED is a three-day intensive immersion experience held in the summer, designed to stimulate students’ interests in the basic sciences, integrated health care, and to expose them to career opportunities in those fields. The program, for students entering the ninth grade in the fall, provides “hands-on” experiences in biomedical science workshops involving research, clinical problem-solving and an introduction to the fields of clinical medicine and medical self-efficacy.
Desert Meadows Area Health Education Center (AHEC) provides continuing education courses, outreach programs, and special events to promote healthcare worker expertise, career opportunity awareness, and healthcare access to all.
The primary mission of Desert Meadows AHEC is to provide a conduit and access:
To develop a current and future pipeline of qualified healthcare workers for Nevada.
To qualified training for licensed health professionals to maintain credentials.
To health and wellness information and issues for the citizens of the communities we serve.
We serve the southern Nevada region, including Esmeralda, Nye, Lincoln and Clark counties.
Desert Meadows Area Health Education Center is a service of Vegas PBS.
