Workshop Highlight: Environmental Print
You encounter words everyday in your environment, from cereal box logos to street signs. This is called environmental print. These are often the first words that children recognize because of context cues, such as shape and color (think of the word STOP on a bright red octagon-shaped stop sign).
The Vegas PBS environmental print workshop demonstrates strategies parents can use to increase their children’s awareness of environmental print, while helping children understand that print conveys meaning.
Explore questions you can ask your preschooler when you encounter environmental print in your neighborhood. |
