Title I Outreach Efforts

Child Pointing to Text

Title I, the Clark County School District's largest federal program, is funded through the Improving America's Schools Act and is designed to provide supplemental reading, language arts, and mathematics instruction to economically and educationally disadvantaged children.

Schools are selected for Title I based on the percentage of students enrolled in the school who are eligible for free or reduced-price lunches. CCSD Title I also implements programs to serve homeless and migrant children and children who reside in institutions for the neglected or delinquent.

As a major supporter of Vegas PBS Ready To Learn efforts, CCSD Title I provides guidance to the project through funding for outreach workshops at Title I schools (see our RTL Calendar), and for the purchase of reading books given to Title I children.

During the 2006-2007 school year, 27 Title I schools with tots and/or pre-K programs received Ready To Learn services. A minimum of six workshops are conducted at each of these sites during the school year.
