Vegas PBS Participates in National Project
Vegas PBS has been chosen by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) as one of only 11 public television stations to participate in a national project. The project, Expanded Learning Through Transmedia Content, is designed to test math and literacy content developed through the U.S. Department of Education’s Ready To Learn grant. “Transmedia” characterizes the full range of digital media platforms today: television, personal computers, mobile devices such smart phones and tablets, and electronic whiteboards in the classroom.
Vegas PBS, in partnership with CPB and PBS, will assist early childhood education in Southern Nevada with expanded media technologies featuring many favorite children’s PBS Kids characters – Cat in the Hat, Sid the Science Kid, Arthur and Curious George to name a few. New children’s content across platforms – including video, online games, mobile apps and off-line activities extend and build new and different learning activities for kids.
