A New Generation of Mariachi:
The Las Vegas Latin Chamber of Commerce 2012 Mariachi Festival

A New Generation of Mariachi - The Las Vegas Latin Chamber of Commerce 2012 Mariachi FestivalEvery year in Las Vegas, one inspiring musical event marks the culmination of an extraordinary program. This music will fill your heart with joy and move your feet to dance. But the story of the annual Latin Chamber of Commerce Mariachi Festival goes well-beyond one exciting night of the infectious rhythms and melodies of Mexican folk music. The festival’s story is a tale of young lives changed and a music that is finding new vitality in the hands of a new generation.

Former Clark County School District educator and now-Latin Chamber of Commerce chairman, Javier Trujillo first introduced Mariachi music into the classroom eight years ago. Today, thousands of middle and high-school students participate. Hear their stories as they spend the day taking musical classes from world-renowned mariachi masters, Mariachi Cobre. Then, go behind the scenes as the kids and Mariachi Cobre take the stage at Reynolds Hall in the Smith Center, Las Vegas’ brand-new state-of-the-art performance venue.
