The EMC has become the sole distributor of described and captioned media for the benefit of the blind, visually impaired, deaf and hard of hearing (HH) students in the state of Nevada. This new library has over 4,000 items. The Described and Captioned Media Program (DCMP) provides services designed to support and improve the academic achievement of students who are blind, visually impaired, deaf, hard of hearing, and deaf-blind. These services include: (1) a library of free-loan described and captioned educational media (2) a clearinghouse of information related to educational media access (3) a gateway to Internet resources related to accessibility (4) a center for training and evaluation of any service provider desiring to appear on the DCMP’s approved lists of video description and captioning service providers There are no user registration or service fees. The DCMP is funded by the U.S. Department of Education and administered by the National Association of the Deaf. (www.dcmp.org) The DCMP materials in the Vegas PBS collection are listed on our website with a "C" designation in our searchable library and are easy to find: DCMP titles have a "C" before the title number. For example the title "1914 - 1918: World War I (C03201)" indicates a DCMP collection holding. Browse only DCMP titles by selecting "DCMP Collection" from the Collection drop down menu on the search page. DCMP titles have a deaf/HH restriction in red on the description page for the title.
