Our Chest of Dreams Showcases Performing Arts Culture for Special Needs Oct. 21
Local Production Documents Students’ Journey to the Stage

(Las Vegas) – Vegas PBS’ latest local production Our Chest of Dreams will premiere Friday, October 21 at 10:30 p.m., with a special preview screening of the film Tuesday, October 18.

The documentary focuses on the stories of students at Life Long Dreams, a visual and performing arts program specializing in working with disabled individuals. The local non-profit organization works as a platform for human beings to express themselves through the arts with a chance to perform their talents during an annual showcase.

Our Chest of Dreams shows students and families who struggle to find arts education opportunities, encountering schools with limited resources for arts programs, private classes that are too expensive, prejudice from teachers and students or lack of facilities that can accommodate disabilities. It reveals that the roads they follow to give their loved ones a chance to learn and practice their art are often blocked or nonexistent. At Life Long Dreams, they find a place where the roadblocks are lifted and every student is embraced with open arms. They discover more than just an education in singing, dancing, painting, drawing, photography and videography. Once isolated parents and guardians find camaraderie and community.

An early screening of the film will take place at Vegas PBS, 3050 E. Flamingo Rd., on Tuesday, October 18 at 5:30 p.m. Life Long Dreams president Danny Titus and director Genevieve Dew, along with the students and family members in the film have been invited to attend. The event is free and open to the public, but RSVP is required at 702.799.1010 x5450. Media are also welcome to attend. Our Chest of Dreams will premiere on Vegas PBS Channel 10 October 21 at 10:30 p.m., with repeat broadcasts on October 22 at 5 p.m. and October 23 at 10 a.m.
