As 2017 ends, we hope you’ll celebrate the holidays and New Year with festive specials on Vegas PBS. Throughout the month, tune in to explore diverse traditions across Europe with Rick Steves; gain kitchen inspiration with The Great British Baking Show and A Chef’s Life; sing along with musical specials from The Carpenters, The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Celtic Thunder; or relish the inevitable drama of the season with Last Tango in Halifax and Call the Midwife.
December also marks the last on-air fundraising campaign of the calendar year. We are delighted to offer health and wellness specials on mindfulness, nutrition, fitness and finance; comedy favorites like Young Hyacinth and Victor Borge; historical documentaries on the Vietnam War and Bob Hope; and musical performances with local ticket offers from Moody Blues, Human Nature, Celtic Woman and more.
We are also thrilled to offer Postmodern Jukebox – The New Classics, which was recorded live in Las Vegas at Myron’s Cabaret Jazz. We are happy to continue our partnership with The Smith Center for the Performing Arts. The program will make its Vegas PBS debut on Sunday, December 3 at 8:30 p.m. and will have an encore broadcast on Sunday, December 10 at 6:30 p.m. This is the third program that we helped bring to a national audience on public television. We will also present specials from David Foster performing at Mandalay Bay and Human Nature from the Venetian (see page 10 for details). These national programs from our city showcase the quality of our venues and the excellence of our entertainment options. Public television provides everyone with access to quality arts programming, regardless of ability to travel or afford a ticket.
During these seasonal specials, we hope you’ll find a favorite program and choose to renew your membership or make an additional gift of support. With a membership donation of as little as $5 per month or $60 annually, you’ll receive Vegas PBS Passport – our newest member benefit.
Vegas PBS Passport provides sustaining members with extended access to an on-demand library of quality local and national public television programs anytime, anywhere. Highlights include every past episode of award-winning Masterpiece series like Victoria, Grantchester, Home Fires and Poldark. You can also watch hundreds of hours of Nature, NOVA, Antiques Roadshow, American Experience, The Great British Baking Show, and much more.
Earlier this year, the total number of Vegas PBS members grew to more than 15,000 families who have chosen to invest in the quality entertaining, informative and inspiring programs they rely on Vegas PBS to provide. In a year when local events required us to focus on the people who really matter most, we thank you for your continuing support of Vegas PBS’ television programs, internet content and educational services. Have a happy, healthy and hopeful holiday season.
