The holiday season on Vegas PBS is filled with spectacular programs and specials that will delight the entire family, featuring inspirational music, savory cuisine and beloved characters.
Throughout the month, Inside Education will feature holiday music and choral performances from school music programs across Southern Nevada. Tune in every Tuesday in December at 7:30 p.m. to get in the holiday spirit with these remarkable student performances. Another annual viewer favorite, this year’s Christmas with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir concert will feature Broadway performer Laura Osnes and English actor Martin Jarvis, along with a powerful story of the debut performance of Handel’s Messiah. Call the Midwife also returns with an all-new holiday special that sees the midwives travel to South Africa to help a struggling clinic.
In addition to these popular music and drama programs, we have cooking specials to help stimulate new entertainment ideas for your guests throughout the season. Las Vegas Chef Hubert Keller takes viewers on a culinary journey of his homeland of Alsace, France in Christmas in Alsace with Chef Hubert Keller. In Lidia Celebrates America: Holiday for Heroes, Chef Lidia Bastianich spends time with military families who reflect on their contributions to this country and share the food traditions that remained with them oversees.
We also present a number of historical programs that examine religious traditions, including Hugs and Knishes: A Celebration of Our Jewish Food and Traditions, Catholicism: The Pivotal Players and FRONTLINE: From Jesus to Christ: The First Christians.
December marks our final membership campaign of the calendar year, and we’re delighted to present additional music specials throughout the month. Viewers can look forward to the return of Andre Rieu in his new special Waltzing Forever, featuring his 60-piece orchestra, and can relive the unforgettable live performances of music icons like The Beatles, The Doors, The Rolling Stones and more in Ed Sullivan’s Rock and Roll Classics – The 60s (My Music).
International super trio Il Volo welcomes special guest Placido Domingo to pay tribute to the Three Tenors in Il Volo: Notte Magica. The original members of Santana were on stage together for the first time since 1973 for Santana IV, which was recorded right here in Las Vegas earlier this year. We are delighted that Il Volo and Santana have provided tickets we can offer to donors as thank you gifts.
None of these seasonal programs would be possible without members like you, and all of us at Vegas PBS are thankful for your continued financial support. During this on-air fundraising campaign, we hope you’ll choose to renew your membership, give a friend a gift membership, or make an additional donation to support the programs you enjoy on Vegas PBS this month and throughout the year. Have a safe, happy and hopeful holiday season.
