Ready To Learn

Overview

Vegas PBS Ready To Learn (RTL) builds on award-winning PBS KIDS television programs and characters to provide high-quality, research-based educational content for kids ages 2-8.  We collaborate with local schools and community partners to deliver RTL resources designed to meet the needs of the whole child: cognitive, social, emotional, and physical. The following are key components of our outreach:

  • Multi-platform broadcast of curriculum-driven PBS KIDS programming focusing on language and literacy; science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM); creativity, critical thinking, communication and collaboration; fine arts; social-emotional learning; social studies; world languages; and health.

  • Online and digital games and offline activities designed to deliver a rich learning environment.

  • RTL family engagement workshops demonstrating how parents and caregivers can use PBS KIDS to provide fun learning activities that extend the educational experience beyond the broadcast to make "anytime learning time."  RTL conducts over 1,000 workshops annually across Southern Nevada.

  • Distribution of free books, in English and Spanish, to low-income families throughout Southern Nevada to build at-home libraries.  Vegas PBS RTL provides over 75,000 new books to at-risk families annually.
